Hardwood
Australian hardwood
Spotted gum, blackbutt and similar. A warm, natural finish with real strength, ideal if you want timber that ages into the look.
Composite
Composite boards
Low upkeep, no re-oiling and stable in the sun and salt. The go-to when you want to spend weekends on the deck, not maintaining it.

It's the substructure and the fixings. Coastal air rusts the wrong bracket or fastener years before the boards ever wear, and that's what quietly destabilises a deck. We spec both for coastal exposure as standard, because that's the part you can't see once the job's done.

Most decks across the Illawarra and the Shire fall in this range, depending on size, height, materials and site access. We give you a fixed, itemised price once we've measured up, so there are no surprises later.
How much does a deck cost?
As a guide, decks typically run $12,000 to $60,000 depending on size, height above ground, the materials you choose and how easy the site is to access. A small ground-level deck sits at the lower end, a large elevated entertaining deck at the higher end. We'll give you a fixed price once we've seen the site, so you can compare quotes properly.
Timber or composite, which is better?
Neither is simply better, they suit different people. Timber gives you that natural look and works out cheaper up front, but wants re-oiling every year or two. Composite costs more to start with and needs almost no upkeep. We'll walk you through both against your budget and how much maintenance you're realistically up for.
How long does a deck take to build?
Most decks take one to three weeks on site once we start, depending on size and complexity. We confirm a realistic timeline before the build begins and keep you updated the whole way through, so you always know where things are at.
Do I need council approval for a deck?
It depends on the height, size and your local rules. Some decks fall under exempt development and some need approval. We'll let you know early where your project sits and what's involved, so there are no surprises.
Can you repair or restore my existing deck?
Yes. If the structure is sound we can replace boards, re-oil and restore it. If the substructure has gone, we'll tell you honestly whether a rebuild is the smarter spend rather than putting good money into a frame that's failing.
